What is your band's name? How did you come up with that name?
FAR FROM SANITY
Far From Sanity. Originally the name was Flesh From Stone, then our tribal cross logo was designed so that the FFS intertwined in it, finally our name was changed to Far From Sanity.

So who's in the band and what instruments do you each play?

How would you describe your sound. What makes you unique?
FAR FROM SANITY
a. Mark - I can only describe our sound based on the comparisons that others give us: Slipknot, White Zombie, Pantera, and Lamb of God. I should add that it’s not like we set out to sound like them. I think our sound is unique and original, and it’s very honoring to be compared to such great bands. I would say that our uniqueness comes from the fact that we all come from such extreme and diverse musical backgrounds and influences. Sure, we have some in common, but more often than not, we each have our own unique influences.
b. Jamie – We’ve also had a bit of Coal Chamber, Mudvayne and Suicidal Tendencies added to those comparisons.
c. Steve – Our music is aggressive, groovy and fun.

What bands have influenced each of you?
FAR FROM SANITY
a. Mark – For me, my influences range from Guns N Roses, to the classic thrash bands like Metallica, Magadeth, Anthrax, and Testament, to Pantera, Sepultura, and Ministry, to Alice in Chains, Dokken, and Rush. And of course, some of the forefathers of hard rock and metal: Ozzy, Black Sabbath, and Judas Priest.
b. Steve - Mostly 90s Solidstate bands... Living Sacrifice, ZAO, Embodyment, etc.
c. Jamie – Let me count the bands and era. Lol! Early thrash ie The Big Four for certain. KISS and Alice Cooper were also early influences. Early 90’s groove stuff like Faith No More and Red Hot Chili Peppers and then A LOT of the metal from the late 90’s/early 00’s.

How experienced are you on the stage, a virgin or whore?
FAR FROM SANITY
a. Mark - Never heard it put that way. But considering that I’ve been doing this for quite some time, I would have to say that I would be closer to a whore in stage experience
b. Steve - I'm a lot closer to "virgin" than the rest of the guys. Lol!
c. Jamie – I’ve been doing music now for the better part of 20 years and I’ve lost track of the number of shows so I guess you can call me “experienced”

How would you describe your shows?
FAR FROM SANITY
a. Mark - Very live and energetic. It’s one of the things we’re known for… our live shows.
b. Jamie – Definitely energetic. One of my favorite memories from a show is watching a moshpit break out during our sound check.

Tell us about your favorite show and why?
FAR FROM SANITY
a. Mark - My current favorite show is the 4th annual Not So Silent Night benefit show. It was great all around: the fans, the stage, the sound, the lights, and getting the honor of playing Black Sabbath’s Children of the Grave with our friends in Grave Robber and White Collar Sideshow. This was also recorded, and you can see it on our Youtube page. Second runner up is one of the three times that we’ve opened for one of my favorite bands, Living Sacrifice.
b. Steve – An event called Moshfest. It was sweaty, nasty and lots of fun.
c. That’s a good question. I had the experience of opening for Biohazard in an old band and that was pretty surreal. I have played so many cool shows that I’m not sure if I can answer this question objectively. Lol! All shows have a special memory attached whether it be the bands we share the stage with, the people we meet or the sensory experience of it all.

Tell us about your worst show and why?
FAR FROM SANITY
We got asked to play a “festival”, but when we showed up, it was just a house party where the stage was on top of a garage and the sound system pieced together.

Tell Us About Your Dream Show, who you'd like to play with and where?
FAR FROM SANITY
a. Mark - Man, my dream show would be to open up for one of my influences.
b. Jamie – Hmmm..dream show…..for me….just getting a group of artists like Grave Robber, White Collar Sideshow, Living Sacrifice…artists that I really respect. Also add in our friends from Mark of Martyrs, Severmind, Chaotic Resemblance…that is a “dream”. I love playing shows with people I consider friends. NOW…if we’re talking size of show…give me an Ozzfest or Mayhem Festival!

Do you have a street team and how can you join?

We do not currently have a street team. We should probably look into that.

Do you have a record label and if not are you looking for one?
FAR FROM SANITY
We are currently in talks with one but cannot say which one yet. Keep watching our facebook and twitter page for more information soon.

What are your plans for the future, in a year, 5 years?
FAR FROM SANITY
a. Mark – From the get go, my thought about being in a band was to play music, have fund and honor God. So we’ve already exceeded any thought I had on it. It’ll be interesting to see where this will go in a year or event five years.
b. Jamie – I honestly make many plans for the big picture ideas but at this stage in life, I have learned to just take it all in one day at a time. That is where I find the most joy.

a. Mark - I think it’s a great thing you guys do, helping to promote somewhat underground and indie bands like us. Seriously, thank you for your support and for this interview.
b. Jamie – We appreciate you taking some of your valuable time and offering it to us. You all highlight TONS of bands that may not otherwise be found. As Mark stated “thank you for your support”.
